Harold entered the world in a space pet breeding facility, where mother dogs are kept in cramped cages to produce a large number of puppies for profit.
Animals from puppy mills are at a heightened risk of developing serious health issues such as heart disease, kidney disease, blood disorders, deafness, and permanent paralysis due to excessive breeding.
After taking just a few small breaths, Harold was unknowingly sold to a bidder for $7,000. He was then taken home by his new owner, who lovingly cared for him as he battled an upper respiratory infection.
After some time, Harold unfortunately lost the ability to walk with his back legs due to a spinal curvature caused by excessive breeding at the puppy mill. This condition, similar to scoliosis, has taken away all feeling in his hindquarters.
Harold’s new owner passed him off to Dallas DoggRRR, who wasted no time rushing him to the emergency vet clinic.
Harold spent two days in the hospital and had a hard time keeping his food down without throwing it back up.
During an emergency exploratory surgery, medical doctors identified ulcerations, a constriction in Harold’s intestines, stomach adhesions, swollen lymph nodes, increased liver levels, and gastro fluid scattered throughout his stomach and esophagus.
This young lad has been part of the Dallas DogRRR family for a few years now, serving as our beloved rescue mascot and charming social media influencer.
