In the most recent 2024 NBA Mock Draft by ESPN, the Golden State Warriors are expected to choose an unexpected player in the upcoming draft.
On April 9, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, USA, the Golden State Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, spoke at a press conference during the game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena. Known for their successful history in the league, the Warriors will be a team to keep an eye on during the upcoming 2024 offseason. Despite their recent struggle to make the NBA playoffs, they have just one selection (52nd) in the 2024 NBA Draft. According to a mock draft by Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN, the Warriors are projected to choose USC standout Bronny James with the 52nd pick, as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area.
James spent a season playing college basketball for the Trojans, where he had a decent performance with averages of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 36.6% from the field and 26.7% from three-point range in 25 games. Although he didn’t have standout numbers, Givony mentioned that he has shown promise during the pre-draft process. According to Givony on May 29, “Bronny showcased his speed and athleticism at the NBA draft combine in Chicago, performed well in shooting drills, and scored 13 points in a scrimmage. He also impressed at a pro day held at the Lakers’ facility last week, where many scouts were in attendance.”
The Warriors ended the previous season in the tenth spot in the Western Conference, boasting a record of 46 wins and 36 losses. Unfortunately, their journey came to an end in the play-in tournament when they were defeated by the Sacramento Kings.
On May 15, 2024, in Chicago, IL, USA, Bronny James is seen taking part in the 2024 NBA Draft Combine at Wintrust Arena. The question on everyone’s mind is whether LeBron James will eventually team up with his son on the court, adding an element of mystery to the situation. This uncertainty has sparked interest in the possibility of the Warriors being a compelling landing spot for the father-son duo.
