Rescuing and Rehabilitating a Dog in Need: Our Story of Saving a Stranded Pup.

It’s truly amazing that Lucy is here with us today. She was discovered around three months back at a construction site in Bali, where many dogs seemed to mysteriously disappear. Lucy was shocked when her rescuer found her. She had a fishing wire tightly wound around her snout, a clear sign that she was a target for the cruel dog meat industry. Without hesitation, Lucy’s rescuer swiftly rushed her to the vet for immediate care.

Lucy was discovered with a fishing line tightly wound around her snout, causing severe injuries. It is suspected that the unfortunate dog was meant to be sent to cruel and barbaric meat farms.

Lucy was brought to the vet after being found tangled in fishing line, she was rescued and on her way to recovery. However, her battle was not over as she was diagnosed with parvovirus, giving her only a 50/50 chance of survival. Our team saved her and nursed her back to health.

Lucy had finally found safety, but her journey wasn’t over yet. Diagnosed with the deadly parvovirus, vets gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. It was a rollercoaster for a while, but after two weeks, Lucy started to get better and was moved to foster care. Just when things seemed to be looking up, she tested positive for distemper, adding another hurdle to overcome. Despite her resilience, we were doubtful Lucy would pull through. The parvovirus had taken a toll on her already fragile body. Through a lot of effort and battling various illnesses, Lucy slowly began to recover, though she still had a deep distrust of humans.

However, she didn’t give up without a fight. We made sure to give her all the care and affection she needed, feeding her bone broth with a syringe every few hours since she had no appetite. Despite her physical recovery, Lucy still had a long way to go on her emotional healing journey. When we rescued her, she was quiet and avoided making eye contact with anyone. She would spend hours curled up in the corner of her kennel, only coming out when necessary. It was clear that she had experienced significant trauma before we found her, leading her to have little trust in humans.

With the help of veterinarians, foster caregivers, and a supportive community, Lucy started to recover from her past struggles and trauma.

Lucy’s time with Prue, the genius behind Mission Paws’ible, has been truly transformative. Over the past few months, she has shown remarkable progress. While she still remains cautious, Lucy is slowly becoming a happy and energetic pup once again. She loves playing chase with her furry friends and basking in the sun. Surprisingly, she now snuggles up on the sofa and sleeps near her companions, something she never used to do. Lucy has also regained trust in both humans and other animals.

Lucy is a shining example of how a blend of patience and love can make a huge difference. She is hopeful for a bright future and is on the lookout for her forever home. Mission Paws’ible is currently constructing the Healing Centre, a sanctuary where pets like Lucy can find comfort and healing. The clinic will offer nutritious raw meals, soothing oil massages for hairless pups, pet therapy music, individualized human connections, and ample sunshine as part of their recovery plan. Lucy’s story is a testament to the power of compassion and care in transforming lives.
