One day, a stray cat roamed the outdoors, making a bed out of fallen leaves to rest upon. But everything shifted when he encountered some humans who would forever alter his existence.
Morpheus, a fluffy ginger cat, was discovered wandering the neighborhood, seeking solace among the leaves for a good night’s sleep. Clearly in need of some TLC, he appeared hungry and a bit scruffy, showing signs of needing medical care.
Thankfully, a group of caring locals stepped in, providing him with food, water, and support. Together with the help of Little Wanderers NYC, a plan was put in place to rescue Morpheus from his rough street life. Despite being timid and wary of humans, Morpheus seemed to understand that these kind souls were there to help him.
After enduring years of life on the streets, Morpheus was finally rescued and had a cozy foster home waiting for him, where he could finally relax and receive the love and care he deserved.
According to Little Wanderers NYC, Morpheus, a six-year-old orange tabby, was discovered living on the streets after spending most of his life avoiding human contact. He had a condition called eyelid entropion since birth, causing his eyelids to fold in towards his eyes, making it difficult for him to open his eyes properly.

A folded eyelid caused discomfort in both of Morpheus’s eyes, leading to the need for surgical intervention. Despite being half blind and FIV positive, this resilient boy was eager for a chance at a better life. Thankfully, an experienced foster volunteer stepped in, providing him with a peaceful environment to rest and recover.
Morpheus, once a stray for many years, was finally safe and sound with Little Wanderers NYC. He was delighted by the abundance of food to satisfy his hunger and the soft materials to snuggle up with. After a long time, he felt secure and at peace, able to relax without the constant worry of searching for his next meal.
He came into the world with a rare condition known as entropion, but thanks to the dedicated team at Little Wanderers NYC, Morpheus received the necessary surgery to correct it. During his recovery, he also battled an upper respiratory infection but showed great progress and began showing more of his personality. Now, with the successful surgery behind him, Morpheus is a much happier and more relaxed kitty, free from pain and ready to enjoy life to the fullest.
The operation went well for him at Little Wanderers NYC. “Following the surgery and extensive veterinary care, he recuperated and bounced back beautifully. He’s like a whole new feline now.” Morpheus got along well with the other cats in the household and loved being around them. Observing how they interacted with humans motivated him to be more courageous.

“He enjoys the company of other felines and delights in seeking them out. Morpheus has a special fondness for wet food – it disappears in the blink of an eye,” Morpheus’ temporary caretaker revealed.
Morpheus may be timid, but his curiosity about the world around him and his interest in observing people never wanes.
Little Wanderers NYC shared the heartwarming story of an orange tabby who, after spending months recovering and socializing, was finally ready to find a forever home. With his fur now soft and silky, he had also learned to enjoy head scratches and treats, showing just how far he had come since being rescued. Described as playful, gentle, and eager to be loved, this sweet cat was now looking for a family to call his own.
Morpheus has transformed into a splendid, fluffy feline under the care of @monicafrancisclare. A lovely family quickly became smitten with Morpheus and chose to welcome him into their home, alongside another ex-street cat named Keke. After a few shy weeks spent hiding under the couch, Morpheus and his new cat sibling settled into their new kingdom and made themselves at home.
One evening, I was awoken by the sounds of Morpheus having a late-night play session with his toys. As week three began, I noticed Morpheus opting to relax on the couch instead of hiding under it,” shared Monica on her Instagram account.
Morpheus is enjoying the luxury of his new favorite spot on the couch. He has developed a fondness for the other cats in the house and now likes to shadow his humans as they move around the house.
According to @monicafrancisclare, Morpheus now resides in luxury on his throne. Gone are the days of sleeping on dirty leaves and trash; now he snoozes on elegant antique red couches, living the good life as a content and plump furball.
