My Journey: Balancing Tattoos and Motherhood – Transitioning from 800 Inkings to Pregnancy for the Eighth Time

A mother who is passionate about tattoos and has over 800 ink designs on her body has made a decision to pause her tattoo addiction to focus on getting pregnant. Melissa Sloan, a 46-year-old from Powys, South Wales, has built a reputation for her frequent tattoo sessions, often creating her own designs using a tattoo gun she purchased from Amazon. Planning to have an eighth child with her partner Luke, 56, Melissa has decided to take a break from getting new tattoos for the time being. She expressed her concerns about the potential harm it could cause to the baby and has committed to giving up smoking and alcohol as well. While it remains a topic of debate, it’s generally recommended to avoid getting tattoos while pregnant.

Melissa Sloan, a 46-year-old woman from Powys, South Wales, has gained attention for her distinctive appearance – she claims to get new tattoo designs three times a week and even uses her £120 ink gun purchased from Amazon to ink herself. According to the American Pregnancy Association, there is a concern about the potential risk of infections such as Hepatitis B and HIV from getting tattoos, as some tattoo inks contain heavy metals like mercury, arsenic, and lead that could be harmful to a developing baby. Melissa, who was previously adamant about continuing to get tattoos despite health concerns, has now had a change of heart with the possibility of having another child. Although she hadn’t been sexually active for three years prior to deciding to try for another baby, she is now back in the dating game as her children are eager for another sibling. Even though a pregnancy at her age could involve health risks, Melissa remains hopeful that she won’t encounter any serious complications. However, her numerous tattoos have made her social life challenging, and she has faced difficulties in finding employment. Melissa expressed her frustration, stating that she is unable to enjoy a drink at the pub as she is heavily tattooed and gets new tattoos regularly, including doing them herself at home.

However, as the mother-of-seven wants to try for baby number eight with her partner Luke, 56, she's promised to put a stop to the obsession for now

As a mother of seven children, she is eager to have an eighth child with her partner Luke, who is 56 years old. However, she has decided to take a break from her fixation on having more children for the time being.

Melissa has previously claimed that she would never stop getting inked, despite health issues - however, this has all changed at the prospect of another child

Melissa had once declared her commitment to continue getting tattoos regardless of any health concerns, but now everything has shifted as she contemplates having another child.

Melissa recently attempted to take driving lessons but faced difficulty finding an instructor willing to teach her due to the extensive tattoos covering her face. One instructor was visibly shaken when she entered his car and struggled to make eye contact with her. Another was so shocked by her heavily tattooed face that he couldn’t wait to end the lesson.

Despite facing ridicule on the school run and being excluded from social events, Melissa takes pride in being one of the most tattooed women in Britain. She has experienced skin damage and scarring from tattoos that didn’t heal properly, but her dedication to body art remained strong until recently when she decided to stop getting tattoos altogether.
