Today marks another year since I was born, a day that is typically full of happiness and festivities. Unfortunately, I can’t help feeling quite melancholic instead. Despite the importance of this day, I have yet to receive any kind words or good wishes. Birthdays are usually an opportunity for loved ones to gather and show their affection and gratitude, but the absence of such gestures has left me feeling neglected and unvalued. It’s disappointing to discover that a day meant to celebrate life and progress can also bring about feelings of isolation and sadness when the people you hold dear seem far away or preoccupied.
Not receiving acknowledgments on our birthdays can feel heavy, making it hard to feel the joy that should come with celebrating. But it’s a good reminder to show ourselves love and compassion. While it’s nice to get validation from others, it’s important to know that our value isn’t based on how many birthday wishes we get. Today, I’ll focus on celebrating myself, recognizing my growth, and finding happiness in the little things. Even though it starts off a bit sad, I’m choosing to make today special by acknowledging my accomplishments and looking forward to the good times ahead.
