A Second Chance for a Senior Kitty: Finding Love and Hope in a New Home

Tigger, the lovable cat, recently marked his 22nd birthday in style, sporting a charming bow tie and party hat while indulging in a three-meat cake alongside his feline pal Stuart. His human parents, Adriene Buisch and Michael Trentadue, former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader and her partner, are dedicated to ensuring that every day in Tigger’s life is filled with joy and love.

Despite being abandoned by his previous owner after two decades, Tigger has found a loving home where he is cherished and pampered. His current family is committed to giving him the best possible life in his golden years. Tigger’s favorite pastime is cuddling with his mom, a heartwarming sight that brings joy to everyone around him.

The fact that Tigger has lived such a long and fulfilling life is truly remarkable, considering his rough start. Left at a Maryland animal hospital in 2014 by his previous owner who never returned for him, Tigger was left without a home or family. However, thanks to the love and care of Buisch and Trentadue, Tigger now lives a life full of happiness and contentment.

Buisch shared with TODAY that Tigger’s previous owner gradually lost contact with the hospital, making empty promises to return for him that never came true. Eventually, all communication was lost and Tigger was left alone. However, with his new family by his side, Tigger is thriving and enjoying the love and attention he deserves.

As part of his bucket list, Tigger enjoyed a day at the beach. He also celebrated his 22nd birthday this past weekend.

Tigger recently checked off another item on his bucket list by spending a relaxing day at the beach. The fluffy feline also celebrated his 22nd birthday over the weekend.

Back in early 2015, Buisch and Trentadue first heard about Tigger’s sad situation. They had been thinking about getting a kitten to keep their cat, Stuart, company, but Tigger’s story tugged at their heartstrings.

“We were so moved by Tigger’s plight that I called the hospital right away and went to see him the next day,” explained Buisch, now 32. “We decided to give this old cat a comfortable home for his final years and see how Stuart would get along with another cat.”

When Tigger was brought into the room, he was covered in mats and looked very frail. “Michael and I exchanged a glance and we both knew we had to bring him home with us,” said Buisch.

Tigger is a local celebrity in Baltimore.

Tigger, a beloved figure in Baltimore, captured the hearts of many after being adopted, despite being diagnosed with kidney failure. Due to his health issues and age, surgery was not an option when a large tumor was discovered on his belly. Uncertain of how much time they had left with him, his owners, Buisch and Trentadue, decided to make the most of every moment with Tigger.

Now, Tigger is a well-known local celebrity in Baltimore, often seen being carried around town in a cat sling. He gained even more fame globally when photos of him enjoying a walk on the beach went viral, drawing the admiration of cat enthusiasts worldwide. Tigger’s presence on social media has garnered a strong following, with fans showering him with various gifts and showing their support in countless ways.

Tigger received a loving kiss from his father, Michael Trentadue. Despite receiving many gifts, it was discovered that Tigger was not a fan of catnip toys but loved playing with the boxes they came in. In a creative photoshoot arranged by Buisch and Trentadue with pet photographer Heidi Moore Trasatti, Tigger was delighted by cardboard sculptures of a hot air balloon, throne, boat, and a television set filled with tasty treats.

Trasatti mentioned that Tigger seemed to prefer the television and throne sculptures, but ultimately, anything involving chicken made him happy. Though Tigger’s health is uncertain due to a growing tumor, he appears to be in good spirits and enjoying life. For his 22nd birthday, Tigger was treated to a special tuna, chicken, and ham birthday cake which he happily shared with his buddy Stuart, resulting in a contented “purring meat coma.”

Buisch and Trentadue showered Tigger with love and affection, reminiscing about how far he had come from spending a year in a cold cage after spending 19 years in a loving home. They are grateful to witness Tigger enjoying life to the fullest until the very end. Happy Birthday, Tigger, from The Best Cat Page!
